Mention people on LinkedIn

LinkedIn’s interfaces don’t allow mentioning people. The extension “Viral Post Studio for LinkedIn” brings your post into LinkedIn’s post window and types each mention so that LinkedIn shows its suggestions. You pick the person and click “Post” yourself. On top of that comes the Studio bar: it helps you write directly in the post window.

Studio bar in the post window

As soon as you write a post on LinkedIn, the Studio bar appears next to the post window. It works only in this window, does all its calculations in your browser and does nothing without your click.

  • Format: bold, italic, bold and italic, bullet list and numbered list for the selected text, plus “Remove formatting”. Use sparingly: screen readers read such characters one by one.
  • Counter: “x / 3'000 characters” live, plus the point where LinkedIn shows “…more” (desktop about 210, mobile about 140 characters).
  • Preview: a card like in the feed, switchable between desktop and mobile, with “…more” in the right place.
  • Writing check: readability and reach check with the same rules and tips as in the Viral Post Studio editor.
  • Templates: hooks and endings from Viral Post Studio, inserted at the cursor with one click.
  • “Save in Viral Post Studio”: creates a LinkedIn draft in your workspace from the text in the post window. Only then does the text leave your device.

With the “Show bar” switch you turn the bar off and on again. This choice is the only thing the extension stores permanently; it stays locally in your browser.

Workspace on LinkedIn

Since version 1.2, a small “V.” button at the right edge of LinkedIn opens a side panel. Connected to your account, you work there as in the app, without switching tabs.

  • Drafts: your LinkedIn drafts from the workspace with search, “Insert into the post window” (with mentions) and “Open in the editor”.
  • Save: “Save in Viral Post Studio” creates a draft directly from the text in the post window; you apply changes to an inserted draft with one click.
  • AI: “New variant”, “Shorten”, “Stronger hook”, “Better paragraphs” or your own instruction for the text in the post window. This costs credits of your workspace, as in the editor.
  • Account: name, workspace, state of the connection and “Disconnect”.

Connecting: In the app, under Settings → Integrations, click “Connect extension” (from the “Editor” role). The app gives the extension an access key that is valid for 180 days and is stored only in your browser. You can disconnect at any time in the app or in the side panel.

What is sent: only to your own Viral Post Studio server, never to third parties, and only when you click: the request for your drafts, draft texts you save or change, and texts for the AI. The bar’s tools and templates keep working without a connection.

How it works

  1. You write the post in Viral Post Studio as usual and mention people with @, for example @Anna Muster. You add companies under “Mention companies”.
  2. With “Publish on LinkedIn with mentions”, the extension opens LinkedIn in a new tab and inserts the text into the post window.
  3. For each mention it types @ and the name, and LinkedIn shows its suggestions. You pick the right person or page, or you skip it.
  4. You click “Post” on LinkedIn. The extension reports the link to the post to Viral Post Studio so that it counts as published there.

What the extension may do

It needs as little as possible:

  • Access to www.linkedin.com to open the post window, insert the text, show the Studio bar next to it and recognise the confirmation after posting.
  • Access to viral-post.ai to receive the handover from the app, report the result back, hand over a saved text as a draft and, once you connect it, work with your account (drafts, AI).
  • The browser’s storage: session storage for a handover or a text until it is done (empty after you close the browser), and locally the “Show bar” setting as well as the access key while the extension is connected.

What it doesn’t do

  • It never posts on its own. You pick the mentions, you click “Post”.
  • It reads no cookies, no messages, no contacts and no feed.
  • It only works on LinkedIn and only when you open the bar or click, never in the background and never on other pages.
  • It uses no internal LinkedIn interfaces and sends nothing to third parties.

Privacy

The extension receives the post text, the mentions and a one-time access key valid for 30 minutes from Viral Post Studio. Only the link to the published post goes back to Viral Post Studio and, when you click “Save in Viral Post Studio”, the text from the post window. If you connect the extension to your account, an access key is added that is valid for 180 days and stored only in your browser; with it the side panel fetches your drafts, saves texts as drafts and sends texts to the AI for rewriting, all only when you click and only to your own server. The Studio bar does everything else in your browser. None of this goes to third parties.
